The Durham Business Improvement District Company Ltd (Durham BID) is the business improvement district for Durham, a beautiful medieval city in County Durham. Home to a world heritage site, the City is a joy to visit, work, study or live in.
Durham BID works with businesses of the City where the hereditament falls within a defined boundary.
During the course of any one year, Durham BID delivers around 50 events including those such as Christmas InDurham and Fire&Ice InDurham, with the latter being the largest annual draw to the City.
Durham BID also provides support to businesses. During the COVID-19 crisis that continues to affect us all, this has seen a considerable amount of information, advice and guidance disseminated to businesses, providing access to information and financial support where available.
Paul Howard is the newly appointed BID Manager of Durham Business Improvement District (Durham BID). He brings with him over 20 years’ experience in town centre and BID management, having first started his career in Place Management in Burnley, Lancashire.
Since then, Paul has been fortunate to do his job in some very different places across the UK. From Burnley Town Centre Management, he moved to Burton upon Trent (Staffordshire) in 2007 to take on the role of Town Centre Manager, where he remained until he was offered a position in 2013 as the General Manager of the Torbay Town Centres Company (Devon); an organisation managing three BIDs for Torquay, Paignton and Babbacombe. Family circumstances dictated he move back to the North in 2015, taking up the position of BID Manager in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
Paul has now relocated to Durham and is looking forward to tackling the challenges facing the city centre.
