Kids will love Durham Children’s Book Festival 2022
Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th August, 2022
Bringing books to life for kids … and giving them great days out in the heart of Durham.
With entertainment and activities in the Market Place from 10am to 4pm each day.
Durham Children’s Book Festival includes
4 workshops each day featuring authors and illustrators, each between 60 and 90 minutes long (schedule will be published prior to launch)
Featured authors and illustrators for Durham Children’s Book Festival 2022 include:
Kylie Dixon of and The Magical World of Mushroom Marvellous, Tom Rogers and World of Snorp, Miles Nelson and Riftmaster, Holly Taylor and Catherine Green
As well as our Authors and Illustrators marquee in Durham Market Place, this year’s activities include
Throughout the day there will be activities in St Nic’s in a quieter environment, where children can access varied activities with their families, at their own pace.
Please note: inside St Nic’s activities will be in two areas; the Cafe area will be accessible to all/ wheelchair accessible, the Upper Hall is accessible by stairs only
Chill Out Zone activities :
Dark Sky Sleepovers – story telling and sensory lab (suitable for any age/ designed to be accessible for children with ASD)
Nicola Wood – Compost the Cat (suitable for all ages, with activities specifically designed to be accessible for children with SEN)
As well as workshops by Catherine Green, Holly Taylor and Miles Nelson.
Visit Waterstones on Saddler Street during the Festival for our authors’ books and a focus on wellness/ mindfulness themed books
