Summer village fair in the heart of Durham City

We’re supporting two students from New College Durham, helping them to arrange a quintessentially English event, right here in the heart of Durham City.
Emma Rowley and Stacey Houldsworth are both level five students, studying for a qualification in Events Management, at the college in Framwellgate Moor.  To help them build their professional portfolio and gain hands-on experience in designing and delivering events, they’re putting what they’ve learnt in the classroom to the test and are playing a pivotal role in bring you Summer Fetes InDurham.
A new listing to the City’s annual events calendar, Summer Fetes InDurham will make its debut on Tuesday 30th May until Friday 2nd June.
Bringing the idea to life is very much a collaborative effort, and using our many years of experience in delivering stand-out events across the City, such as Fire&Ice InDurham, Christmas InDurham and so much more, so we’re pleased to be able to lend our support to Emma and Stacey too.
Summer Fetes InDurham will take place across Durham City, with particular flurries of activity happening in Millennium Place and the Prince Bishops Shopping Centre.  If you’re planning a day out in Durham, expect to be transported back in time to the English tradition of the village summer fair, with local stallholders selling their goods, fun fair rides, sports day games and other activities for all the family to enjoy. Expect jams, homemade cakes, crafts and other knick-knacks, re-creating a real ‘village fair’ or school fete experience of yesteryear!
Plus, because we like to do our bit for the community too, all stall holders selling their wares will be either local projects, charities and or start-up businesses, with any profits raised going directly back into the stall holder’s pocket to help them better their community project, or in the case of the start-ups, all profits will be given to a charity of their choosing.
So, if you’re thinking about what’s on in Durham during the half term break, pop Summer Fetes in your dairies today – it’s sure to be a fun-filled day out for all the family!
