The BID Zone in Durham City is home to over 400 businesses. From big-name brands to small independents, there is no place quite like Durham. You’ll find Durham Market Company – the City’s oldest department store – nestled next to St Nicholas Church in the Market Place. A stroll down Elvet Bridge reveals some hidden gems of independently owned bars, restaurants, boutiques and professional service businesses. Across Framwellgate Bridge you’ll find the newly refurbished Riverwalk, complete with a world-class ODEON Luxe Cinema, and back across the river there’s of course Durham’s very own open-air shopping complex, Prince Bishops Shopping Centre.

We promote the City to people living locally, encouraging them to use Durham as their service centre of choice, to help boost footfall and support the local economy.
We work collaboratively for the benefit of the City. We ensure that the City as a whole benefits from Durham BID delivery and, where possible, that of stakeholder partners.
Not only do we promote the City and the City offer, we also provide a voice for businesses, speaking up on your behalf on important issues.
Durham BID works very hard to include businesses and listen to their views. For the City to be successful in maintaining a “working together” ethos, we need Durham BID to continue working as well as it does with businesses. A central point where, as a business owner/manager, you can work alongside other businesses. Working together will only continue improving Durham’s offerings to visitors.
